Stayed here again, sure it’s around the 10th time, lovely hotel, rooms clean, fantastic food, great staff who really look after you, nothing is a bother, from reception (apologies a can’t remember the girls name, sorry, we chat with her at each visit, dark hair, pony tail) woman of all trades, very welcoming, young chap who was working reception and serving breakfast, to Ellie in the restaurant, she is a must meet, so pleasant, polite and quite funny, made our dining experience really relaxed. New complimentary coffee/chocolate/tea machine set at the bottom of the stairs, encouraged to help ourselves Will definitely stay here again, even though under new management, please don’t make to many changes Thank you again The Glasgow Lassies
Lovely hotel with character, friendly staff, very impressed with the food. Only negative was i had to send 2 drinks back as glasses had lipstick on them. Everything else was great

One issue. It was NYE. We were meeting other hotel guests in the bar before going elsewhere for dinner and to another venue for the NYE celebrations. Your bar staff were abrupt to the point of rudeness in telling us that we had to drink up and leave by 1700. Other patrons were unceremoniously herded out. As we were all guests, we objected and the bar manager slapped down paper coffee cups and ordered us to decant our drinks into them so they could wash our glasses for the evening. We refused and left once we had finished. The drinks are extortionately priced as though you are in London not Colchester. We should have been left alone to enjoy them. Your staff need better people skills. It left a bad impression.

Spotless hotel, excellent staff, amazing cocktails. And the location can't be beat.
The hotel is not just your average room, but upscale amenities, comfortable bed, beautiful design, and spacious quarters. I will be back for sure.
