Parking ok but not on site. No hot water in the wash basin in room. Had to hold shower head by hand. Outdated equipment. Carpets stained and not very clean. Heating didn’t come on.
But comfortable beds, and young staff very friendly and helpful.
Room at front so traffic noise.

The access to the parking area is quite narrow, to navigate through with a wide car is challenging.
The room decor is a bit dated; however the bed is very comfortable and clean.
Bar - at the ground flood, but not tried.

Lovely stay at this old charming hotel in the centre. The staff were welcoming and very helpful and food was delicious.

The room was ok as was the bathroom The noise at night from thr bar went on until 2am .We had to close the windows in the room and there was no fan so an uncomfortable night was endured . Tea and coffee in room but no milk sachets supplied. no internet connection in room In the room it clearly says breakfast starts at 8 am on sundays , i checked this as I had to leave by 8.45am. At 8.15 myself and approx another 15 guests all stood outside the bar in the rain ,no lights on inside ,eventually it opened at 8.30 with the ? chef /manager telling all breakfast started at 8.30. a small coffee machine (filthy) behind the bar was available for use .So 20 people all wanting a drink at the same time . The continental breakfast consisting of large family type boxes of opened LIDL cereals with milk arriving 10 mins later .Orange juice arrived 10 minuties later no glasses available but managed to find a plastic cup behind the bar. The chef ? said he would take our order along with the other 20 or so people as this would be quicker ! We ordered,10 minuites later he informed us that there were no eggs !!! Our breakfast and toast arrived at 09.35 !!! an hour and 5 mins later no eggs ,no hash browns just a sausage peice of bacon beans and a tomato ....dreadful. We searched for a tap just to get a glass of water as well but couldnt find one! I stayed here 2 years ago and it was good on the whole . This time it was just awful AVOID I will be asking for a refund as it was ￡98 i will not be staying again !

Great location nestled in a lovely small village, helpful and pleasant staff & ideally placed for anyone doing the coast to coast Unfortunately what was not expected was the loud music from the bar past midnight directly below my room so bear this in mind when booking

Friendly staff and comfortable room. Had an issue with the toilet which they fixed within the hour and were very polite about the issue.

Bed sheets clean but mattress needs updating springs gone.
Bathroom tired
Bath with shower head very poor head came off in hand broken does not screw together
And water pressure none
Plumbing needs updating I had to was what I could in sink as water trickle out.
Bad night sleep due to bed and train track next door. Parking bad for tall vans as height restriction had to park in public car park

I stayed for a family wedding, it was a great time had, friendly cheery staff at all levels from the cleaners to kitchen staff, every member of staff me and my children met was welcoming and polite: The room was homely, comfortable and presentable, me and children slept like babies, very comfortable beds, and the room was right temperature. Bathroom was clean and had sufficient toiletries and towels. All worked as it should the toilet, bath and shower. Breakfast was beautiful, great selection, again helpful polite staff. The car park was good and reasonably sized spaces, Overall a lovely hotel, will definitely be back to try the afternoon tea and explore the area

Arrived for a one night stay at the George making a reservation for a double room ( 207 ) free car park on site which is a bonus. My room was very modern and exceptional, the bedding was of a very good quality (Egyptian cotton) and extremely comfortable and plenty of storage. A excellent variety of choices for breakfast especially the full English which was served to you in a spotless dining area. All members of staff were very helpful no matter what you asked for. I would certainly recommend this hotel to future travellers. Regards and thankyou for a enjoyable stay. Mr Keith Barnes

Very friendly staff and a lovely room for staying. The location is very convenient as well.
