This hotel is well situated on the Main Street in Battle. It has a carpark but it is small and quite awkward to use especially at night as there is very little lighting and space to ?manoeuvre . It seems to be empty most of the day but quickly fills up late afternoon to early evening. The hotel itself is quite old and a little shabby in places. There is no lift and the long, winding staircase looks lovely but is difficult to navigate if you have mobility problems. There appears to be no ground floor rooms.? We chose to “up grade” to a superior room, but it was still very basic and a bit rough and ready round the edges. The bathroom was large and the walk in shower was big. The sink was cracked. The room itself was fairly comfortable, but I would not have liked a standard room judging by the quality of a superior room. That being said it was very inexpensive and “did the job”. There was a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities along with biscuits and toiletries in the bathroom. There is no restaurant serving breakfast but there is an Italian restaurant attached (obviously once the dining room for the hotel).? Ideal for anyone on a tight budget and very convenient for visiting the town and historic surroundings.

Easy check in, we'd been before and were familiar with arrangements. Staff remembered us and were friendly. Room clean, stairs steep and narrow, fortunately we didn't have a lot of luggage. Breakfast freshly made and excellent. Full bar services available. Car parking is an issue, chargeable car parks around, limited free parking if you know where to go and prepared to walk.

Room was good and the staff in the pub were excellent. The only issue wa that breakfast is not included during the winter. Nonsense promotion from *******.

Could not fault anything staff service Halloween party everything excellent. Would not hesitate to stay again

The room was clean ,the floor in the room was a bit creaky but it is an old pub The staff were friendly and the bar looked good Would stay again

For overnight accommodation whilst working away this hotel provides great value for money, considering its location

Loved the location, with ease of access to campus as well as dining and shopping. Room was comfortable and mini bar was convenient. Enjoyed the lobby bar and boutique.

Parking good and seemed secure, missed the part of a ￡3 fee when booking, maybe we overlooked. Our standard room was on 3rd floor, no lift, so wished we’d packed lighter! An old building which might explain the marked slope in the room which took some adjustment. Hot water took an age to come through. Beer great in the bar. Top notch breakfast. Very pleasant & efficient staff. Hotel enjoys great position, suited us on a long journey from the Far North….would definitely stay here again.

It was nice we got a newly refurbished room but we were there really late to check in due to cancelled train we had an awful experience! However the staff at George inexperienced could find my booking and wanted me to leave in a few hours after 12am in the dark another staff member came found the booking - he said that staff doesn’t have access - rather than admit he didn’t have access he wanted to kick me out! Even tough I showed him my booking and shared the booking reference! After that stares it was ok.. the staff were lovely! Forgot the veg sausages in my breakfast! It was so delicious we didn’t notice until after breakfast! Anyway 7 out of 10! This was only because of that staff member and the sausages! The place was vintage and homely but very clean!
