From the moment we arrived Janik,his mother,father and staff made us feel that we had come home .He asked what we would like to achieve on our stay with them .We discussed this , he went away and organised everything .We did the orphanage ,the boating lake and of course the National park all at very competitive prices .However we also visited places I think few tourists get to see and this will stay with us forever as we found it very special .I would highly recommend Amba Kola to anybody fantastic time 100/10

Great for a one night stop off, the family are very friendly and helpful. We did their safari and had a good guide. We had jungle room which was a bit of a squeeze but if not staying long it’s fine. Bathroom lovely and food was ok for a dinner

Super friendly host — Janik and his team really put in a lot of effort. The accommodation is very clean, with daily room cleaning. The dinner was delicious and generous (prices between 2,000 and 5,000 rupees, including lobster). Breakfast was also very tasty; one coffee or tea is included, and additional cups come at an extra charge. The pool is clean, and there are sunbeds with cushions available. There is also parking for a tuk-tuk or car. We loved the great outdoor shower with homemade shampoo and soap. The air conditioning and fan are strong, and mosquito spray is provided in the room. They offer a great laundry service as well. Thank you for two wonderful nights!

What a brilliant couple of days at this amazing little homestay. Immerse yourself in SriLanka with this beautiful warm and welcoming family. The homestay is ran by Janik and his mum is the chef! She is out of this world delivering fantastic food for breakfast and dinner! They are just fabulous people and will organise safaris or visiting the local elephant orphanage which is a must do! Would highly recommend this beautiful place if you want to experience fantastic hospitality

We had the most amazing time at Amba Kola. Janik, his mom, and the team were incredibly kind and welcoming. They made us feel at home the moment we arrived. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully designed. The food was absolutely phenomenal! Amba Kola is so wonderful that it’s worth visiting even without doing the national park safari. We can’t wait to be back.

All of the other reviews say it all. Fabulous room with fan, A/C and great shower - spotlessly clean. The owner and his family are super friendly and caring, and organised a safari for us and a visit to the elephant transit home. Some of our fellow guests did a cooking class with the owner’s mum - this is possibly the most authentic cooking class experience you will find anywhere. We ate some of the dishes for dinner and they were all excellent- as was the rest of the food! The pool was lovely and is very well maintained and was great to relax in after our safari.

The place is an absolute gem, it is truly worth a 10/10. To start with the room, is is the most comfortable bed and pillows we had in Sri lanka, a great outside bathroom with no bugs, but with homemade soap and shampoo. There is so much love being put in the place, it really is just so nice! Also the common area has such a nice vibe, the swimming pool is so refreshing (we swam everyday) and the food that is cooked is so delicious. Honestly the best food we had in Sri lanka, also the breakfast was so delicious and fulfilling. They also are super helpful and arranged our safari into udawalawe for us and help us get the bus to ella. The mom and son and the rest of the staff are so thoughtful and attentive, really special stay for us.

Cet endroit mérite difinitivement ses 5 étoiles. Le personnel est super attentif aux voyageurs, les chambres sont très belles et très soignées. Nous avons dormi dans la jungle room qui a une douche partiellement à ciel ouvert et pour ceux qui se le demandent, non il n’y avait pas d’insectes :-) Il y avait un système pour augmenter la pression de la douche ce qui permet d’avoir une bonne vrai douche. Nous avons pris un cours de cuisine sur place, avec la maman de Janik, qui était extra ordinaire. Le coconut Sambol était le meilleur que nous ayons gouté de tout notre séjour au Sri Lanka. Nous recommendons vivement cet endroit

Von der ersten Minute an haben wir uns hier unglaublich wohlgefühlt. Janik, seine Mutter und das gesamte Team sind herzlich, hilfsbereit und mit viel Liebe bei der Sache. Die Anlage mit nur wenigen Zimmern ist sehr gepflegt und bietet eine entspannte, famili?re Atmosph?re. Besonders das Open-Air-Bad mit Blick ins Grüne war traumhaft.
Das Essen war frisch zubereitet und geschmacklich ein Highlight – sowohl Frühstück als auch Abendessen waren top! Die Organisation unserer Safari lief reibungslos. Auch der Kochkurs ist sehr zu empfehlen. Bald wird es zudem einen Pool geben.
Vielen Dank für diese gro?artige Zeit – wir kommen sicher wieder!

One of the best places I have ever visited, between the atmosphere of the hotel and the beauty of the park 5 minutes away this place is a must stop. The family who owns this place took care of me like their own, and I will be forever grateful for them. Absolutely head over heads for this place 10/10 and will be back !
