Hotel du Raisin is an affordable option if you’re looking for a well located, simple hotel for a few nights. I stayed 2-nights in an attic room, which was up four steep flights of narrow stairs. As other reviewers have said there is no lift so a reasonable amount of mobility is needed. My room was clean and roomy with comfy double bed, sofa, table and chairs and a useful kitchenette. The room was serviced daily. There was plenty of free tea and coffee. The free Wi-Fi is strong and reliable. The roof rafter protrudes into the attic room (30) and are big and low. I couldn’t regulate the shower temperature tap (my bad) so I had a hot shower one day and a cool on the day after. At night the hourly bells ringing outside can be irritating if like me you like to sleep with a window open, otherwise the double glazing blocks most of the noise out. Standby for 7 AM each morning when a cacophony of bells attempt to wake up the entire city with a multi-minute blast. It can be quirky when you arrive as there is no hotel reception and when the lady that runs the hotel is away, but the guys who work in the café sorted my room key out after a bit of toing and froing, you can always sit and have a coffee. It is like an Airbnb style of hotel management, other hotels are available but not at similar affordable rates. I would stay here again.
We loved our stay at Hotel Le Raisin in Lausanne. The room was very artsy and well-decorated. We each had a big checked bag size of luggage and a carry-on and were able to carry both up the flights of stairs with little problem. The stairway is narrow, but expected for an older building and it was fine. Don't let that comment in others' reviews sway you if you are reasonably fit and such. I am middle-aged and chubby and did just fine. :) The views from the room we stayed in were so pretty too. A view of the town and the comings and goings of everyone. The staff understood my English just fine, so that also wasn't a problem (I read complaints of this in other reviews...either way I didn't care about that aspect...there is always Google translate). Great stay.
Nous avons juste été au Restaurant Lieux charmant et bien situé. Cuisine très moyenne et peu de choix de plat cuisiné. Dommage. Service impeccable et personnel très sympathique Bien pour prendre un verre sur la place Palud de Lausanne. Merci
Poor hospitality. Restaurant staff are also staff taking care of guests needs. Received impatient attitude during check in. I think they are more interested in their restaurant business than Hotel business. Beware, there is no lift! And you can imagine the terrible experience having to carry your big luggage up! The room is also in bad condition. The wardrobe is spoilt with faulty door. A piece of cardboard was used to hold the door from opening. The toilet seat is yellowish with stains. And the room is "slanting". It was a stay of 2 person but only one guest card for one person had been given. Why can't another card be issued? Only benefit is that, the location is good. That's all...
