Staff support lacking and not friendly , entrance blocked by smokers

Fabulous hotel, truly upholds the boutique chic style with impeccable attention to design and room amenities. Our greeting was 1st class and loved the atmosphere. Dined in pub, outstanding food, quality and attention to detail on serving presentation too. Definitely will be a regular. Thank you all. Lotty

The system to check-in was down for hours resulting in delayed check-in. There is no proper hotel desk for check-in, You have to to go the bar counter which is overcrowded and the staff at the bar is not even interested to listen.

We arrived before check in and couldn’t get into our room early. There was an issue with housekeeping that day. One of the bar staff wasn’t too friendly with us about coming in before checkin. We sat and had a pint and food to kill time since we got there about 2ish hours before check in. Stairs and steep and narrow. No lift. We were given room on top floor. It can get noises outside at night but we didn’t hear other hotel guests. Loved the room but had issues with the shower. The door didn’t seal right so first time we used it, water got everywhere. No one onsite after 11pm so make sure you keep security number on hand. We had to check out before 7:30 and bar wasn’t open even though it says they were to open at 7am for breakfast.

The room was small but very charming. We only stayed one night, so it worked for us; however, if we had been staying longer, it would have been tight or cluttered with our suitcases and surface area to put your daily items, like a crossbody, wallet, etc. The bathroom was a good size as well. We were on the top floor, so getting luggage up and down really ******. Even though I knew in advance the staircase could be an issue, it was still a shock to go up four floors with full-sized luggage! Oops! We got there early, and at any hotel, an early check-in is always a gamble, but I was a little surprised that they were so strict about the 3:00 pm check-in. Usually, if a room is ready early, you can access it sooner. Not a huge deal for us as we went straight into sightseeing, but if you are hoping to get in early, it is likely not possible. The staff were friendly and accommodating in holding our luggage in a locked area. We had a plumbing issue, and they resolved it right away, even though it was late at night. The pub was close to multiple subway stations, which was great. We unfortunately didn't eat or drink at the pub so can't speak to that.

The room was very nice! We were on the 3rd floor. The stairs are very steep and there is no lift. The room had a roll top bath at the end of the bed. Bed was comfy and the room was very clean. Farringdon tube station is the closest and the hotel is a short walk from here. You cannot check in any earlier than 3pm. We were disappointed with the staff at breakfast. We had booked. No table ready. We were the only ones in there. All cutlery etc was just plonked in front of us. The food arrived with black pudding which we had asked not to have. The staff were chatting constantly to each other. No butter came with the toast had to ask. Just really unorganised and disappointing.

The room was excellent and the bed so comfortable and cosy. Best nights sleep and the coolness in the room on such a hot evening made it better. Only downside was no light//lamp by the mirror.

We stayed here last week passing through the UK. My wife loved the room, it was cosy and the bath was perfect. The staff were all polite and friendly. The only downside was that we got woken up after midnight from people shouting outside the bar across the street from the hotel.

This was our second stay at Fox & Anchor after having had a very comfortable and relaxing stay 18 months earlier. Bed and furnishings very comfortable. Location is excellent for the London locations we wanted to visit. Excellent breakfast choice and quality and excellent service at the bar. Will be visiting again.
