The Mytton & Mermaide Hotel was recommended to us while staying at Pelham Grove B&B. We were not disappointed! The staff were attentive to our requirements. The entrees arrived in a timely manner as did our main meals. The food was fresh and cooked impeccably (I had the plaice). After dinner, a stroll along the river was essential. Oh, I had my first chilled beer since being in the UK - just the way beer should be intended (well, at least in Australia).

Hotel is beautifully situated and immaculately maintained, both inside and out. Comfortable rooms, excellent meals, great ambiance and friendly, welcoming and efficient staff. Best hotel I've stayed in. Would definitely go back. So good that we have already visited another in the chain for a meal and planning future trips...

We went for a meal on our wedding anniversary on 14 July 24 and had been looking forward to a fantastic afternoon with good food, drink and good service. The setting of the place is beautiful. We both ordered Sunday Roasts - lamb shoulder and pork. The lamb shoulder was almost tasteless and the pork had lots of fat. The roasties were rockhard and could only be handled with quite some effort. The waitress offered us a replacement for them and also assured us after over 10 minute wait, that they had not been forgotten. However, after 25 minutes we gave up waiting and finished our by then cold meal with what we had. Very disappointing, considering that we paid £46 for both meals! The wine we had was very palatable and we also thoroughly enjoyed the cheeseboard we shared. Not all bad, but not worth the money!

We were three generations of a family, gathering for lunch prior to a service at the Crematorium and we were able to book the private dining room at the Mytton and Mermaid, which was a lovely room, spacious and elegant and giving that privacy which we appreciated. The menu is extensive with traditional dishes and something for the more adventurous, vegetarians and special diets are also catered for. Staff were friendly and efficient, towards the end of the meal we explained that we were pressed for time and the desserts were served quickly. We have often passed this building, situated opposite the entrance to Attingham Park and regret now that we haven't stopped, because it is a welcoming and comfortable environment, with lots of places to sit and eat, elegant decor and, if this rain ever stops, a huge outdoor seating area. We will be returning and would highly recommend.

My wife and I visited The Mytton and Mermaid for the second time since Brunning Price took it over and renovated the establishment into the comfortable and relaxed multi roomed restraunt. Do be aware that it is now very popular and parking can be difficult at times . The small front car park is now patrolled by a parking man at busy times to save it getting blocked . The slightly larger car park at the rear is accessed by the road to the right of the Mytton and Mermaid and does have a couple of EV charging spaces . An access door into the hotel and restaurant is at the side of the building to save the longer walk to main door at the front . We had visited the Shrewsbury Hospital on Tuesday 23rd July and to cheer ourselves up we decided to visit the Mytton and Mermaid. We had tried to phone but got no answer and the on-line booking system showed no availability until much later in the day . We called in on the 'off chance' and found the restraunt relatively quiet with lots of vacant tables - although it did fill up somewhat later in the lump chime session. The staff were very helpful and supportive and quickly found us a table in a large glass ceiled square room just off the main entrance ( where the toilets are) . The Mytton and Mermaid has a number of real ales on offer and I opted for half an average tasting Wye Valley Butty Bach ( £4.80 ) . My wife decided to risk a cocktail to lift her spirits and had a 'Dark and Stormy' - dark Rum and ginger ale - rather too gingery for my taste but my wife liked it . We decided to have a soup as it had already been a long day with an early start .We had a mushroom and Tarragon soup very nice although rather too salty for my taste. I had a decent Chicken and Ham pie whilst my wife had a whole Plaice. My wife started to feel rough with the anaesthetic from her hospital visit wearing off and in severe pain we decided to make a rapid exit . The staff were really kind and found a lidded container for my wife to take the remaining cocktail home with her. The Mytton and Mermaid is not a cheap experience but it does feel 'special' - we look forward to trying it again under better circumstances for ourselves - a recommended relaxing experience.

We have been to the mutton many times. Is a great pub. This was the first time we went on a Sunday. We had an excellent Sunday mixed roast. The best non carvery we have had anywhere. Only one little thing was I didn't like the puree parsnip. Seemed a bit of a waste. Roast them. Great staff. Great location great food

Have been to this restaurant quite a few times since new ownership and always had an excellent meal, but last night the food was very poor, the service was slow and intermittent and it was very expensive. Two of us had the same main course and the size varied considerably. The food was luke warm and tasteless. The steak came in two pieces - half was medium rare and the other part was medium and very stringy! Not a good evening for a celebration with friends!!!

I went to have afternoon tea with two girlfriends. I am vegetarian and I had booked a veggie meal. One of my friends, although she eats fish, is also veggie, but I had failed to order this for her and the waiter said it wasn't possible to change the order because the teas had been made already. We just accepted that. The cake stands came and the food was okay, but very overpriced for what was on offer. When we asked for more tea, the waitress took away the teapots and just added more water instead of refreshing them. For my birthday last year, I had an excellent afternoon tea in a café in Bridgnorth for half the price. I also recently had a fantastic tea in Ludlow. This one was very disappointing.
