Very large very noisy room. Plate full of potatoes, mash and roast that were reheated. Veg would have been better served as a side, some veg uncooked and carrots were overcooked. Friendly staff but wouldn’t revisit.

Fantastic, felt like Christmas with the beautiful tasteful decor. Food fantastic and staff looked so smart. Perfect from start to finish. I would recommend to anyone, professionalism and class shines through! Not cheap but worth every penny.

Went there as party of 17 for an Xmas lunch. From start to finish the food and service were 5 star with one of the best meals ever. Most of us were happy with various meals from the xmas menu with one or two from main menu. It's not often you saviour every mouthful so can 100% recommend.

The food was very good. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Price was reasonable. Staff were helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the restaurant area is quite noisy. Think it is due to the acoustics. Tables in the bar area seemed quieter. Lovely setting if the weather is ok to sit outside.

An absolutely amazing Sunday dinner service as always. We always have a great time here and staff are very attentive. A special mention to Jenna who always remembers us and even if not serving us she always comes over to say hello. Food is always incredible and portion sizes are generous.

Faultless family meal for table of 13! I eat out quite regularly in the local area, but I have to say the team at The Lodge were faultless on this visit. They brought out all 13 meals together, piping hot, generous portions too. All waiting staff were very attentive and I noticed they kept doing loops around the room, so there was always someone on hand. The place was busy with a really good atmosphere, the background music was drowned out by the room chatter at one point, but they increased the volume just right which only added to the atmosphere and someone had a good playlist on too! The music usually gets overlooked. Although we eat out at the other Colchester Inn establishments, this one is becoming more of a favourite. It’s more spacious, furnished to a higher standard and has a good varied brunch menu too, (which we have tried a few times). Minor points… A slight wait for the bill at the end but they were busy, which is a good thing anyway ?? The chips aren’t to my taste, a bit strange and greasy ?? I would thoroughly recommend giving it a try if you haven’t already. Thank you ????

This is a lovely and very popular place. We went for dinner on Saturday night and enjoyed a very good meal, with friendly and pleasant service. Some tables were perhaps a little close together, but not so much as to cause an issue. The only thing I would say is that dogs are allowed in the restaurant area as well as the bar, which we found a bit surprising. Just a note in case (like my husband) you get slight allergy symptoms to dog hair when it gets in the atmosphere. Luckily, the dog at the next table wasn't one that sheds hair, but the place was too busy for them to have moved us if it had been and we'd probably have had to leave!

Absolutely fabulous stay. We were in Beech which is very spacious with a settee in a separate seating area. Lovely comfy bed and pillows. Nice big rain shower. The evening meal and breakfast were fantastic. Staff very attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back soon.

We are fans of this family business, having eaten at all their restaurants, so want to try a stop-over. The Lodge is a quintessential Norfolk Georgian building which has been done up to look smart. Check-in was super fast. Our room (Ash) was spacious, as was the bathroom. The wifi was intermittent which was annoying and I couldn't get the TV to tune to Live channels. Breakfast in the morning was 5 stars, as was the service provide by all the crew, who are friendly and can't do enough for you. We paid a great rate for the room, enjoyed our stay and will be back!

Decided to book here for a Sunday roast, and didn’t disappoint, the atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and friendly, we were seated in the restaurant area near the window. The food was amazing, very big portions, presentation was great and service was also very good. Will definitely be returning
