Courteous staff Excellent food Authentic cooking (Chettinad style)

Hotel is lovely and quaint, but don’t order wine, there is no list for obvious reasons, you have whatever they have left at the end of the month ? and they don’t tell you the price, when the bill was presented it was 5725 rupees, nearly ￡50 uk sterling for a pretty awful cheap bottle of Australian Shiraz, top tip stick to soft drinks or beer !

Hotel di grande atmosfera, in un palazzo storico riccamente rifinito con marmi italiani, legno di teak intarsiato, piastrelle giapponesi che i mercanti nel XIX secolo qui costruirono insieme ad altre dimore storiche, per sfuggire alle tormente della cista. Camera grande e comoda, riccamente arredata, ristorante in una bella sala con piatti, prettamente di cucina indiana, di buona qualità. Colazione meno ricca e un po’ meno curata. Personale super gentile ed efficiente. L’hotel organizza anche alcune attività come cooking session o il tour molto interessante del palazzo. La piscina è un po’ poco curata.

We traveled as a family to Chidambara Villa's resort in November 2025. We had a wonderful time at the resort. The staff was extremely welcoming and the resort itself, being a heritage property, allowed us to understand more about the Chettinad culture. The house tour in particular was really good as the host explained the history behind the house, how things were constructed over time using parts from various countries around the world. The hospitality and the food was also good. All in all, it was a trip to remember and I thank the staff from the bottom of my heart for making this a memorable experience.

Une belle immersion dans un ancien Palais qui reste bien dans son jus et qui pour le coup vaut vraiment que l'expérience soit vécue malgré les points suivants : Il est plus que nécessaire d'investir dans la maintenance des lieux même avec un simple co?t de peinture. La nourriture sans être mauvaise n'est pas à la hauteur des lieux : le petit-déjeuner est vraiment trop orienté vers la cuisine locale et ne propose donc que très peu de variétés. De même pour les repas dont les produits comme tres souvent ici baignent dans le gras. Une fois de temps en temps pourquoi pas mais le manque de diversité n'est pas conforme à ce qui pourrait être attendu des lieux. Bon après, s'il ne s'agit que d'un séjour d'une ou 2 nuits ... Les matelas sur les transats sont là carrément indignes des lieux !! Et le personnel est quasi absent (il a fallu demander des serviettes à la réception !). La piscine n'en demeure pas moins agréable mais ne serait-ce pas le minimum attendu ? En clair, les photos laissent rêveur (à ce sujet, impossible bien évidemment à hauteur d'homme d'en apprécier la réalité même s'il est possible en se baladant un peu d'en avoir un aper?u) mais il ne faut pas non plus trop en attendre au risque d'être dé?u même si l'expérience vaut le coup malgré tout

We did not stay here at this beautiful, unique hotel, but we had lunch here with our tour group. The food was delicious and we certainly enjoyed the ambience . Service was excellent. We received a tour of this beautiful, unique home now turned into a hotel . Hard to believe that it was someone’s home.. The only thing that makes me sad is that the other homes in this town and nearby are not able to be restored as beautifully as this one was
