We booked this hotel as we had stayed here once before and found it to be alright. However, on turning up this time we were informed that there was a wedding and the disco would be on until 12oclock! The noise was directy under our room and we could hear everything. We went down for some food(which was very nice) Later we returned to our room and decided to ask to be moved as we could not relax with it being so loud. They offered us another room and charged us £10!! The room we moved to was just as bad! We tried putting the TV on to muffle some of the noise, only to find that the TV signal was so bad it kept going off every 5-10 seconds! After such a lovely day in derby for my birthday , this really was not the evening we were expecting. I was so upset my husband asked for a refund so we could go to another hotel. After searching we could not find anything in walking distance so had no choice but to sit there listening to banging music & no TV for another 2 hours! I would have spoken to the owner on leaving but there was no one around. I did email , but as yet had no reply! Safe to say we will never return.
We hired the function room for a surprise 80th birthday party. As it was a lovely warm evening we decided to only use the covered garden area which is beautiful. Accessible to wheelchair users. You do have a large inside quirky area, but the garden for us was the perfect size! Plenty of space, lovely plants. There was a Bluetooth speaker available so we didn’t have to pay a DJ, we made our own playlist. There’s no immediate bar area, but a quirky little corridor takes you to the main bar. The staff are friendly, made sure the area was kept glass free. You have the option to have the party catered at a very reasonable rate, we self catered due to dietary needs. We were able to go in earlier in the day to decorate the room, and move things around to suit our needs! It is a pub & hotel/bed & breakfast and there is free limited parking in a carpark area behind the property. Great night was had & we asked when the bar was closing it was 11pm for us but if the bar is kept busy by the party I believe they will keep it open later! Only downside was no access to the kitchen to store things in a cold temp but not really a major issue. Thank you Simon & Karen, would definitely recommend.
My stay 4.7.25
Nice room, bathroom could do with a shelf, I was balancing things on and in the sink. 3 lamps in room but no bulbs. Struggled to close secondary glazing window so was very noisy at night from traffic and people. Had to move TV to plug kettle in and due to bed being in way of screen.
Shocked to find we had to pay £15 each for breakfast, no choice of size, too much for me to eat, took most of it home with me (I don't like waste) cereal, orange juice, full English, with or without toast, tea or coffee. Would've preferred a choice of small or large breakfast.
We only booked 1 night so wouldn't have paid for breakfast if staying longer.
Nice friendly staff, lovely beer garden....
Amazing hotel full of antiques and curios. Our room had a four poster bed and a lovely modern shower room. Breakfast was extra (£15) but was huge with toast, cereals, tea and juice. Attached to the hotel is a splendid bar serving cask beers - what more could you want? It's a 10-15 minute walk into the city and all the attractions, and the hotel car park is free!
The place was very well positioned and the staff were lovely. The beer garden and the pizzas were fantastic.
However, the whole place (except the bathroom) needs renovation - it's very dark with old furniture.
Also no hairdryer to be found although we probably should have asked for one
This is a very old building which includes a pub. If your room is in the front, you'll have traffic noise. If you're in the back, you'll hear the pub-goers until 11 o'clock. Staff are very pleasant. Pub food is very good. Decor is old. Bathrooms have been modernized. Nice walk or bus into town.
Well what can we say? - Kaz & Simon hosted our wedding for us , what an absolute beautiful day they made for us. From start to finish they were attentive to our needs and wants ' starting from the planning stage to the event itself. We were made to feel special throughout - the accommodation was wonderful, the food was outstanding and everything went without a hitch. The room layout was magical and Michelle's bridal experience was second to none!. We wanted romantic and party and we got it ++++++. Thankyou so much -we definitely won't be strangers In the future
We held a 80th birthday party there for a family member, selecting a buffet menu and booking the function room, for an afternoon celebration. The whole experience was easy, the service was excellent, the team were very helpful and friendly, food was well presented and tasty, with the rooms delightful and comfortable, displaying a period ambience in keeping with the buildings heritage. Well done team Georgian House Hotel and many thanks, for helping to make the day memorable.
