The rooms are spacious and spotless. The beds are fantastic! The gym is great. We ate at in the lounge every night, and it was great. This is just a wonderful hotel!

Staff, cleanliness, room, location all were beyond excellent. The Umstead is beautiful. My wife said the spa was excellent as well. Looking forward to our return visit in the spring.

Great property: However, both the restaurant and guest attire was not congruent with a what a 5- start restaurant should be. Portions were nonexistent and after spending $360 for dinner I left the table starving; not to mention, allowing jeans and t-shirts for "fine dining" is embarrassing. Needless to say, the second night my wife and I dined off the property and enjoyed a fine dining experience elsewhere.

Room was great and upgraded. Excellent turn down service. Food at cafe was excellent. Spa experience needs to be improved- quiet areas aren’t quiet, bring your swimsuit because they don’t tell everyone to do that and you miss out on amenities and massage therapist was heavy handed despite corrections.

We are frequent guests at the Umstead. It is one of the best hotel/spas where we have ever spent time. Very professional staff, clean, well decorated, beautiful grounds with walking paths. Heron’s restaurant is on Forbes best rated list. Well worth the price of admission!

The staff has exceeded our expectations with their exceptional friendliness and warm hospitality. Additionally, the room provided is impressively spacious. Sushi was excellent, lunch menu is wonderful. We didnt even go out any where

Classic Luxury Gorgeous and classy hotel, with high end amenities and an impressive mini bar. Great location and close to the airport. Herons, the restaurant in the hotel, was a bonus as well. Food and presentation were superb! For a hotel of this caliber though, I was underwhelmed by the staff. My expectations were high given the price point etc. They didn’t seem as “polished” or friendly as one would expect. Nonetheless, I would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful hotel. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Beautiful patio overlooking the pond for dining. Nice .33 mile walking path around the pond. Water filter stations available to get water. Pleasant surprise. I would stay here again. Even with Friday traffic it only took us 15 -20 minutes to get to PNC arena for a hockey game.
