The staff went above and beyond for us during our stay! The hotel is incredibly historic and charming. I highly recommend adding the breakfast to your stay. Jena is an absolute gem of a city and we would love to stay here again!
Das historische Haus ist sehr beeindruckend, wenn man es betritt. Man ist gleich eingenommen von der repr?sentativen Atmosph?re. Die Lage ist sehrgut fu?l?ufig zu Bahnjof und Innenstadt. Ich hatte ein ger?umiges renoviertes Zimmer im 1. Stock. ruhig zum Hof gelegen. Fenster zum ?ffnen. Der Einsatz der Klimaanlage war nicht n?tig, doch war die Heizung auf 16 Grad voreingestellt, was man zwar ?ndern konnte, aber nicht auf Dauer. Das Bett bequem und breit, wie bestellt. Allerdings war die angegebene Minibar leer. Getr?nke konnte man nur an der Rezeption holen. Das Angebot aber sehr überschaubar (Bier, Rotk?ppchen-Sekt, Wasser). Auch gab es keine M?glichkeit, ein Hei?getr?nk, Kaffee oder Tee, im Zimmer zuzubereiten. Das empfinde ich als nicht ausreichend für ein Vier-Sterne-Haus. Zumal die durchaus stimmige Bar nur w?hrend der sehr begrenzten ?ffnungszeiten des Restaurants ge?ffnet ist. Das ist ja nun besonders unsinnig, da man ja gerade au?erhalb der Essenszeiten gerne in der Bar etwas trinken m?chte. Das Bad modern, jedoch kaum Ablagem?glichkeiten. Diese waren leider auch im Zimmer nicht ausreichend vorhanden, denn es gab keinen Schrank oder Regale. Nur eine kurze Stange mit ein paar Kleiderbügeln. Das Frühstückbüffet ganz o.k. In totaler Selbstbedienung. Allerdings sind die Tische mit wei?en Tüchern eingedeckt, sehr stilvoll. Die üblichen Eierspeisen, Speck und Würstchen. Sehr ordentlicher Kaffee. Sekt, jedoch unge?ffnet eher als Staffage wirkend. 2 S?fte. überschaubare Auswahl an Wurst und K?se, t?glich gleich. Stets der selbe R?ucherfisch, kein Lachs. Obstsalat und Quark und auch die üblichen Cerealien. Auch sü?e Angebote wie Kuchen, Marmelade etc. Sehr schlimm finde ich das Angebot an Br?tchen, die eindeutig aufgebackene Fertigware waren. Dafür bezahle ich nicht den doch ambitionierten Frühstückspreis. Auch die Croissants nicht knusprig frisch, sondern aus der Fertigtüte. Dann lieber nicht! Insgesamt eine gute Unterkunft. Jedoch fehlt doch einiges zu vier Sternen. Wer sich auf das Angebot des Hotels verl?sst,man k?nne ein Taxi ordern, wird auf der Strecke bleiben. Es gibt in Jena offenbar kein kurzfristig verfügbares Taxi. Man sollte von Seiten des Hotels besser keine falschen Hoffnungen wecken.
Positives: Clean room, good breakfast, nice location downtown. I like the black bear in the lobby.
Negatives: The wifi was so weak that it would not stay connected to either my phone or my computer. When I said something to the desk clerk, she offered a lame excuse - she said that some laptops just don't connect very well, but phones do connect well. That was wrong, neither device would connect. When I checked out, I mentioned it to a different clerk, who apologized. The water in the shower kept cycling between too cold and too hot.
Positive:
- The hotel is clean and centrally located.
- It has some flair of the 70s (including the rooms).
Negative:
- Although you pay an extra energy fee, warm water for a shower was not available before 06:30.
- Checkout at the evening before leaving took me 20 minutes. That was the time the receptionist needed to print the bill correctly.
- Although there is a 24 h service, when leaving early morning, I had to run and search the receptionist to unlock the main entrance. I nearly missed my train.
My wife and I spent two nights at the hotel while attending a conference. Our room was elegant and comfortable (and equipped with a great balcony) and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel had inexpensive paid parking that allows you to come and go at your convenience. Next time I am in Jena, I will definitely stay here again.
