Getting to the hotel was not easy and parking is very limited but the view was spectacular. The breakfast was fair but the owners were friendly. Be aware that when they tell you the wine setting out is for you, they mean you can buy it. We thought they meant we could have some that was out and if we liked it we could buy a bottle. We found out when we checked out that if you have a glass, you just bought the bottle. We paid for the bottle but only got a glass out of it.

We visited in late January, 2024. We were taken aback by the steep drive up, but it was well worth it. Our room was lovely and the owner and staff were extremely accommodating as we had goodies that needed freezing. There are only a few rooms so it is quite private (we only had one other guest each night). Our initial plan was to spend three nights but we extended it one day.

Great views from the Harris suite. The room was really lovely and spacious. We really liked the private decking area. The host was really friendly and helpful, and provided breakfast early so that we could check out early. Would have loved to have stayed longer.

Parautane Lodge is a delightful B & B perched high above Nelson. The Harris room in which we stayed was well proportioned and had a modern bathroom. Other rooms may have better views, but they are smaller. The breakfast room and choices were excellent and the staff couldn't be more friendly.

We stayed in this hilltop lodge for 4 nights and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. We were welcomed by the temporary hosts, Lorna and Tim who were professional and friendly. The room was comfortable and nicely furnished but our sliding doors did not look out on the spectacular view. Try to get one of the other 2 rooms on the ground floor for the better views. We enjoyed the hot tub at the end of long active days. Our package did not include breakfast but we had the option of paying for this on a daily basis for $30 per person. As we had early activities planned we opted to have breakfast in one of the coffee shops in Nelson with Victus on Bridge Street being our favourite. Downside to this property is that it is quite a trek into town so not that convenient if you want to go out for dinner. Otherwise a great place to stay for a couple of nights.

The place is nothing but amazing . From the start of an interesting drive up , the views are stunning and when you get up to the lodge , the service provided is remarkable. Excellent place to relax with stunning views and outdoor hidden spa. The lodge is close to all amenities as well. The cooked breakfast is wonderful and the rooms are great !

The view from our room and the terrace were absolutely spectacular. And so was the road up to the lodge. Luckily nobody crossed our way. Bringing our whole luggage down the stairs (and when leaving up again) was also not convenient. We definitively did not accept the offer of the daughter of our hosts - this would have been too much for her. But thanks for the offer. The breakfast was also very good and the recommendations of Alan with respect to eating in Nelson as well. Thanks for hosting us, we will keep you in good memory.

Beautiful location, great views of nelson and the bay/able tasman. Nicely fitted out and great bed. Friendly owners. Probably only negative is the spa pool was not that clean and we couldn’t enjoy having a soak in the evening. Nice having a wine on the deck and watching the sun set
