The Place Tainan

The design hotel brand of Royal Hotels & Resorts, The Place that sets to connect with local cultures wrote its first chapter in a city full of stories – Tainan in the end of 2014, as the group’s 12th hotel. The Place Tainan is a masterpiece of collective efforts, including the architecture firm Mecanoo of the Netherlands, the lighting from the DPA of the UK and other international teams. To showcase the theme of new and old, window grille, bricks and wood materials are widely used in the hotel, reflecting Tainan’s landscape and traditional images through modern design.Located in downtown Tainan, the east district, The Place Tainan shares the same complex with the T.S. Mall, a new must-go of Tainan. The hotel has 223 rooms, the Ganchui Italian Restaurant, the Bar 21 and the Huigan Café, as well as the fitness center.To highlight local arts and culture, The Place Tainan also features an exhibition space (400 square meters) and the Ganching Shop on one corner of the lobby, presenting selective works from local designers and craftsmen. It is hoped that local culture through sophisticated design works and artifacts could be better appreciated and shared amongst travelers.
