Guest:Great location near the beach and the town centre with hilly paths. Great family room with a separate room for 2 children. Very good breakfast although no hot food at the exception of boiled eggs. Highly recommended.

Guest:It was a trip on a sad occasion, a meeting with the Notary. Yet the Les Hydrangeas team was very high-touch throughout the stay, the room ideal for single introvert travellers: charming somewhat regional decoration with a phenomenal view of the sea. Did I mention the kitchen ? Exceptional innovative cuisine, a rapport of price vs quality rarely seen, and a charming male team of cooks who see and hear the single white-haired lady at the small table. Do not miss out on the seafood fresh from the fisherman’s boat. Vous avez été absolument exceptionnel, je reviendrai.

Guest:Villa Les Hydrangeas is a nice hotel, with good and not so good points. We stayed 2 nights. Good The staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable, with a great view. This cost 110 euros a night, plus 16 euros pppd for breakfast. There was a good choice of food, which we enjoyed, and the winelist wasn't bad (here was a choice of 5 Loire whites and 3 reds). Our waiter, Anthonny was experienced, knowledgeable and attentive. They have ample parking. Not so good From the car park to reception is a set of steep steps, and heaving your luggage up these is a challenge, although I gather they have disabled access round the back. I didn't spot a lift. Our room, reception and the restaurant/breakfast room were all on the first floor. The shower in the bathroom was also a challenge if you are short and/or getting on a bit since the side of the bath is very high. If you are very short or with limited movement you have no chance. Providing a step up wouldn't help since it would then be a long way down into the bath. But there is not much the hotel can do about these things, short of a complete remodelling. And the hotel looks like it has probably had continuous improvements, add-ons etc over the years. One thing they DO need to fix is the room safe. It was just sat on a shelf in the wardrobe, not anchored in any way, and could therefore easily be picked up and carted off. We found the food & wine a little expensive (although probably normal these days). Our bills for dinner were 158 and 168 euros, based on their Menu Grand Large at 46 euros both nights. We drank 3 bottles of wines ranging from 32-38 euros Menetou-Salon, Sancerre, Pouilly-Fume. Breakfasts were good but there was no fried or scrambled eggs or bacon; the only cooked food was DIY boiled eggs. I was dying for a decent cup of cafetiere coffee but they only had one of those infernal bean-to-cup machines, but that was the same in all the hotels we stayed at. Overall the hotel is good and the acid test is Would we go back? and the answer is quite possibly. This area was interesting in October, I'm sure it's nicer in summer.
