Guest：Cavens is a hidden gem. A beautiful tranquil hotel, full of character with its antique furniture and interesting art work. Highly recommended for those who enjoy the quieter lifestyle and relaxing in peaceful surroundings. Angus is a most gracious host who offers a unique experience. He went out of his way to make us feel most welcome on our second visit to Cavens. The delicious set three course dinner menu is always an excellent standard; using only top quality, locally sourced ingredients. Our delicious rib eye steaks were the best we've eaten in a long time; cooked to perfection. Angus is only too happy to offer an alternative choice should a dish not appeal to your taste. A well stocked bar in the lounge offers plenty of choice for drinks before and after dinner. Our ground floor estate room was pleasantly decorated, very roomy and the bathroom first rate, with double sinks and a large, modern shower area.The view over the side garden was perfect. Thank you Angus and your staff for making our four nights so special.
Guest：Lovely home with large rooms and open garden area. We chose this home because of its proximity to Southerness Golf Course. We couldn't get through to the course (they were having a tournament) but our host called and got us a tee time in the afternoon. Room was lovely with a splendid view of the grounds. Dinner was cooked by our host and was excellent. Fresh Scallops and Venison as well as a home made tart for dessert. Wine selection was good too.
Guest：We were here for a family celebration for eight. What a lovely evening - we were greeted and served drinks in a lovely lounge and served a lovely dinner in a separate dining room. Faultless.
Guest：What a find! We stayed for a couple of nights on our journey north. Angus was a marvelous and welcoming host. One appreciated the lovely country house feel with extremely well and thoughtfully presented public room and bedrooms. The wine list was an absolutely joy and such fun seeing the cellar and the pleasure of choosing some excellent and well priced wines to match the excellent food. We will definitely return.
