Guest：Right from our check in and all the time we were there all the staff were so friendly and just excellent. Adrian was so friendly and could not have been more helpful The hotel itself was perfect for us, small, quiet and we just loved the relaxed atmosphere. They had a small bar area in the reception which works on an honesty basis. Just help yourself and make a note (Not very often you find that these days) Breakfast was just lovely and everything was so fresh and cooked to order. We liked the walk along the sea to all the restaurants and the taxi home only cost ￡2.00 We would definitely recommend and if we are ever in the area again, will come again and enjoy their warm hospitality.

Guest：They got me with “luxury” bit. Well it ain’t. Mediocre at best. Be clear that you room is not in the Annex, because apparently this place has a two tier guest experience. Friday on arrival we were told we should go poolside for breakfast. That was OK Saturday, Sunday morning we were turned away and told to go have breakfast in a separate indoor room in the dingy Annex. Sorry, Hermanus was a treat, but we will not be returning to this place.

Guest：Whale Rock Lodge is a lovely place. Very much a home away from home. Staff welcoming and efficient. We had a room in The Villa; a separate building to main house with it's own entrance and car park but only 30 steps to main building. The room and bathroom were large with fridge & tea/coffee making facilities. Good sized balcony with comfortable seating. The 2 pools - larger at main house and one at villa had plenty of sunbeams and other seating. Pleasant sitting rooms in both buildings. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast or buffet style continental. Cliff walk into town takes approx 40 minutes but too far out of town to walk for dinner. No Ubers and only a limited number of taxis in Hermanus.
