  • Guest：I have always stayed in Merdeka Palace and Suites each time I go to Kuching because of location. For this trip I stayed in Room 1301 from 7 - 10 Dec 2025. Pleasant surprise during my stay at the 2-bedroom suites because some refurbishment have been done. The old carpets were replaced with SPC flooring. Old furnishings were replaced with new curtains, 2-seater settee and a Samsung flat TV. The 2-bedroom suite is really spacious and you get a good view of the city centre facing the Dewan Undangan Negeri building. WELL DONE TO THE MANAGEMENT for the upgrading works.

  • Guest：1. The wardrobes all without hangers to hang out clothes 2. There are no floor mate at the bathroom 3. The Aircond temperature is not adjustable 4. No Breakfast - the hotel suddenly doesn't open their cafeteria for hotel customers which is very inconvenient 5. Very late check in hour at 3pm which is very very troublesome for those who travel from far to wait for too long. It is not relevant at all.
  • Guest：It's an ironic hotel. Has lots of colonial times photo prints on the room walls but is called the 'Merdaka' Palace Hotel. The lobby reception has a grand feel however the lack of modernisation and refurbishment to the rooms makes it feel lacklustre. It cannot compete with the other international chains if it does not wake up and listen to it's guests.
